November

Marina has put down her soccer ball in favor of her basketball to begin a new season.  Our basketball coaches this year are friends from our soccer team last year.  We're very pleased to have a few girls on our team this year, including the coach's daughter.  It's going to be a fun season! Maddie's team is run through the YMCA, and will start up after Christmas.
And both girls will keep dancing once a week, until the recitals in May. And FYI: Don't tell Maddie there's a recital, she gets a little nervous about performances of any kind, although she's slowly getting better about this.   We'll get there.

David has been running regularly since I finished the half in April.  I don't know why we can't get it together, but there you go.  He had his first 5k in years this past weekend, and finished in under 24 minutes!  After, we played on the cross country farm where the run was held.

Fishing!

Today was Marina's Thanksgiving play. She was a cook, and played her part beautifully!  The turkeys may have stolen the show though.  Very sweet!

Soccer season wrap up!

Marina wrapped up soccer season with a game, a few goals and a party on Saturday. We had a great season!
After the game, we took a trip to the zoo with one of my friends from work (the real work, as opposed to the school/ research work).
As usual, we spent most of our trip in the playground. One day soon, we'll have to check out some of those animals!
On Sunday, we had some preschool/ big girl school practice time, and we discovered Jessa can now make her very own S's! The S was the hardest letter, and now that she has mastered them, there is nothing stopping her! Woo Hoo! It's an interesting note that each of the girls wrote their names independently for the first time at 3 1/2 (which Jess will be this week). Sweet little milestones.
Maddie visited a birthday party this week on a grand scale! Her classmate had a soc hop party at her house, complete with a diner home do-over, busboy (big brother!), dance leader (big sister!), milkshakes, dancing, 45 records, poodle skirts and Lucy Arnez circa 1953 (mom!). Maddie loved her retro glasses!
We're moving onto basketball now, and still attending dance, and still all our practices are all on Thursday. Busy Thursdays!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! We warmed up for the big day in the world and around the house.  Last weekend, we got pre-Halloween treat at Sweet CeCe's Frozen Yogurt.

We had special dress up dance classes last week.

Around the house, we worked on three very different pumpkins.  Maddie went with a fancy Halloween cat, Marina stayed loyal to Dad's Hokies, and Jessa requested a sad face.  Very different girls.

Supervising.
On Saturday, we took in the southern tradition of Trunk or Treating in a church parking lot.  It is all the rage down here!  The girls (of course) think this pre-Halloween giveaway is a fabulous idea, and so here we are with Jessa's best buddy Laura (Ariel).

And then, the big day was here! We tricked or treated with Ariel and her family and collected lots and lots (and lots!) of goodies!
